Believing the Promises of God - in His Word

Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed… Without weakening in his faith… Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what He had promised. ~ Romans 4 [selected 18-21]

A Matter of Trust

  • Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. [emphasis mine]

My good friend, Annette, called yesterday to share with me all the wonderful things God has been doing in the lives of some people she has been praying for. Each circumstance is different but she has been praying that each one of them "trust the Lord for His best". God is answering those prayers and those people are praising Him as a result. They are also seeing that it could only be through the Lord's power that those specific results came. So cool.

I said to Annette, "Such a simple concept, 'trusting God', yet so few are willing to do it."

She replied, "Just like 'knowing' the Lord, people want to make it so complicated when actually it's very simple."

We rejoiced together in all that God is doing among us. You don't have to hold a title of 'Pastor', or 'Elder' to be in 'ministry'... you just have to touch other lives and pray. Ministry is right in our own back yards.

In the early church... word spread fast about the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Acts 11:20-24

20 Some of them, however, men from Cyprus and Cyrene, went to Antioch and began to speak to Greeks [Gentiles] also, telling them the good news about the Lord Jesus. 21 The Lord's hand was with them, and a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord.
22 News of this reached the ears of the church at Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to Antioch. 23 When he arrived and saw the evidence of the grace of God, he was glad and encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts. 24 He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord. [emphasis mine]

Let's encourage one another daily in prayer and thanksgiving to our God!

Choosing JOY,

Stephanie
