Believing the Promises of God - in His Word

Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed… Without weakening in his faith… Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what He had promised. ~ Romans 4 [selected 18-21]

LISTEN...Before Praying

Psalm 66:16-20
16 Come and listen, all you who fear God;
let me tell you what He has done for me.
17 I cried out to Him with my mouth;
His praise was on my tongue.
18 If I had cherished sin in my heart,
the Lord would not have listened;
19 but God has surely listened
and heard my voice in prayer.
20 Praise be to God,
who has not rejected my prayer
or withheld His love from me!

Deuteronomy 31:12
12 Assemble the people—men, women and children, and the aliens living in your towns—so they can listen and learn to fear the LORD your God and follow carefully all the words of this law [God's Word].

Deuteronomy 32:1-2
1 Listen, O heavens, and I will speak;
hear, O earth, the words of My mouth.
2 Let My teaching fall like rain
and My words descend like dew,
like showers on new grass,
like abundant rain on tender plants.

Joshua 3:9-10
9 Joshua said to the Israelites, "Come here and listen to the words of the LORD your God. 10 This is how you will know that the living God is among you...

Judges 2:17 [WARNING]
17 Yet they would not listen to their judges but prostituted themselves to other gods and worshiped them. Unlike their fathers, they quickly turned from the way in which their fathers had walked, the way of obedience to the LORD's commands.

Psalm 81:10-12, 13
10 I am the LORD your God,
who brought you up out of Egypt.
Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.
11 "But My people would not listen to Me;
Israel would not submit to Me.
12 So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts
to follow their own devices.

[The Solution]

13 "If my people would but listen to Me,
if Israel would follow My ways,
14 how quickly would I subdue their enemies
and turn My hand against their foes!

Psalm 85:7-9
7 Show us Your unfailing love, O LORD,
and grant us Your salvation.
8 I will listen to what God the LORD will say;
He promises peace to His people, His saints—
but let them not return to folly.
9 Surely His salvation is near those who fear Him,
that His glory may dwell in our land.

stephanie,
the weirdest thing happened the other day, my hearing aids decided to conk out on me. i felt lost and alone without those things. After dropping both of them to the repair shop (again!)i decided to drive down a quiet country road (i couldnt hear anything anyway but i enjoyed the scenery-haha. It was then i prayed to unto the LORD and asked him what is HIS will. I mean, i am the only one in the family who is hard of hearing, my sister has canine hearing which i think is odd. But to the contrary, i believe (now)that GOD has chosen me to do something for HIM. HE will show me some day. I told HIM i am ready to take on whatever task HE has for me. I need to pray about it. I need to listen to the HOLY SPIRIT within instead of focusing so much on the external part of listening. Thanks stephanie! this makes so much more sense.

Isn't it great that you don't need your hearing aids to hear the God of the Universe?!! He's the same God who loves us and pursues us daily. When we love HIM with all of our heart - He will pour out of us - whatever we have allowed Him to pour in - through His Word and in prayer - all by the power of His Holy Spirit living within us! I'm Praising Him with you for what He's doing in your life! You've got your godly hearing aids on - the ones that yearn to know Him and hear His voice! Keep LISTENING!!
