Believing the Promises of God - in His Word

Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed… Without weakening in his faith… Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what He had promised. ~ Romans 4 [selected 18-21]

A WISE YOUNG OWL

Psalm 40:1-4a
For the director of music. Of David. A psalm.
1 I waited patiently for the LORD;
He turned to me and heard my cry.
2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
He set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear
and put their trust in the LORD.
4 Blessed is the man
who makes the LORD his trust...

Psalm 27:5
For in the day of trouble He will keep me safe in His dwelling; He will hide me in the shelter of His tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.

Psalm 31:2
Turn Your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my Rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me.

Deuteronomy 32:3-4
I will proclaim the Name of the LORD.
Oh, praise the greatness of our God!
He is the Rock, His works are perfect,
and all His ways are just.
A faithful God who does no wrong,
upright and just is He. [selected Scripture emphasis added]

This little guy [or gal] wandered under the netting of my pond yesterday when it was pouring rain. He was worn out from trying to find his way out of the trap he found himself in. I opened the netting enough to allow access for his departure - however he crawled up into the rock of the waterfall instead - and promptly fell asleep [it was daytime]. So I shut off the pump to the waterfall and placed my Shepherd's staff on the rock in front of him making a perch where he could come out once it got dark. This morning he was gone.

How often do we praise God for caring for us - when we are trapped in a pit - a pit of awful circumstances - a pit of despair? Sometimes we beat ourselves silly trying to escape them. If we would only learn to rest in the cleft of the Rock until He brings release - and rescues us - as only He can. When we stop fighting [God] - is usually when the release comes... just like for the owl.
Rest in God's unfailing love and wait for Him to move!

Choosing JOY,

Stephanie
