Believing the Promises of God - in His Word

Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed… Without weakening in his faith… Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what He had promised. ~ Romans 4 [selected 18-21]

SLAM DUNK

I love this picture! It was snowing outside last month when I took a few photos in the dark. I just love how one snowflake looks like a basketball going through the net [swish]! This verse: [Philippians 3:14] is very special to me because it was the very first verse I ever memorized when I was about 8 years old.

A neighborhood girlfriend invited me to a summer camp for a weekend. We had to learn this 'theme' verse . I did not receive Christ until I was 14 years old - so even at age 8 God was preparing the way for my life in Christ - as He says - He knew and loved me - even before I ever knew and loved Him. Isn't that so like God - yet so amazing? It's hard to wrap my mind around.

How about you? Have you seen God's Hand over your life?

Questions to ponder for this post:
Let God speak to your heart through the photo and the verse. What goals are you pressing toward? What mark are you aiming to hit? Are those goals included in God's high calling - for His kingdom purposes? In Christ?

Many years ago [1993 - I believe it was] my oldest daughter, Rebekah, wrote a speech as valedictorian of her Christian High School commencement program. It was entitled:

Only What's Done for Christ Will Last!

I have never forgotten those words and recently the LORD keeps reminding me of them each and every day. They help me to make better choices for the everyday things going on in my life as well as the big things that God is doing.

I'm finding out that God has BIG GOALS for me this year...I'm listening and while I'm scared, I'm choosing to do it afraid and say YES to God.

Love to you, Miss S!

Yolanda - I believe that 2009 is going to be a 'crowning year' for many of us. I think that God will require us to do many things 'afraid'. Choosing to say 'YES' to God is the key to obedience - no matter how scared we might be.

We ARE turning into 'LION CHASERS' for sure! But... only by His Hand, His protection - and His grace!

You GO GIRL!!!! He's got something BIG and BRAVE for you to do! Trust Him for all of it - without compromise!

Choosing JOY,
Stephanie

I received the most precious e-Mail this morning - about this post - from a woman in the Philippines. Her words spoke to my heart from God's lips. He used her to speak directly to me - just as He has through many of you.

I am just in AWE of God that He can put strangers together - to lift and encourage one another in our faith walks here on earth!

Blessings to my new Blogland [Siesta] Sister: Leigh Anne

Yes, I do see God's hand over me, even more evident in these past few months. Many times more painful than before, as He is working His surgery on me for me to eventually reach my goal of freedom!

Thank you for sharing this truth!

Love the snowflake picture, very unique!

When I look at this picture, my immediate reaction is regarding all the "cold" that gets stuck in my net! How winter sometimes brings a chill that will know its eventual downward melt in due time.

For what it's worth...
