Believing the Promises of God - in His Word

Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed… Without weakening in his faith… Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what He had promised. ~ Romans 4 [selected 18-21]

NO QUITTING ALLOWED

2 Corinthians 4:16-18
SAME PASSAGE...

From: [The Message]
So we're not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without His unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There's far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can't see now will last forever.

From: the [NIV]
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

From the [NLT]
16 That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. 17 For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

From the [KJV]
16For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
17For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
18While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

From the [HCSB]
16 Therefore we do not give up; even though our outer person is being destroyed, our inner person is being renewed day by day. 17 For our momentary light affliction is producing for us an absolutely incomparable eternal weight of glory. 18 So we do not focus on what is seen, but on what is unseen; for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

No matter how you cut it - God's Word is clearly spoken... in case you thought there was an 'out'... Quitting is NOT an option with God!

I need to remember the "small potatoe" stuff is just that and allow God to sanctify and allow grace and mercy to fall upon afresh. He is faithful, and often times I need that reminder as I fall short.

Lovingly,
Yolanda

Hey Stephanie!

There's no turning back. And I wouldn't want to. I can see what lies ahead.

Hope you're doing well.

Hi Dear Friend,

I finally got on to some blog sites tonight, at least for now...and I say, "Praise the Lord" Quitting is definitely Not an option with God or with me, if I can help it. I look forward to spending eternity with Him when it's in His timing and His will. What a breath of refreshement from His Word! "not a day goes by without His unfolding grace." "our spirits are being renewed every day." "So we do not focus on what is seen, but on what is unseen; for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." Oh how I Love the Lord our God!

I love you dear friend,
Alleluiabelle

I did a search on overcomes and came up with this:
1John5:5
Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

Revelation 2:7
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.

Revelation 2:11
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not be hurt at all by the second death.

Revelation 2:17
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it.

Revelation 2:26
To him who overcomesand does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations

Food for endurance :)

Oh for the unfolding of God's Word in our hearts.

He will never give up on us, so we need to remember to never give up on Him.
