Believing the Promises of God - in His Word

Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed… Without weakening in his faith… Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what He had promised. ~ Romans 4 [selected 18-21]

Which WAY Are You LEANING?

Job 8:13-15 [NLT]
The same happens to all who forget God.
The hopes of the godless evaporate. Their confidence hangs by a thread.
They are leaning on a spider’s web. They cling to their home for security, but it won’t last. They try to hold it tight, but it will not endure.

Psalm 62 [NIV]
For the director of music. For Jeduthun. A psalm of David.
1 My soul finds rest in God alone;
my salvation comes from Him.
2 He alone is my rock and my salvation;
He is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
3 How long will you assault a man?
Would all of you throw him down—
this leaning wall, this tottering fence?
4 They fully intend to topple him
from his lofty place;
they take delight in lies.
With their mouths they bless,
but in their hearts they curse.
Selah
5 Find rest, O my soul, in God alone;
my hope comes from Him.

Isaiah 1:7-9 [NLT]
7 Your country lies in ruins,
and your towns are burned.
Foreigners plunder your fields before your eyes
and destroy everything they see. 8 Beautiful Jerusalem stands abandoned
like a watchman’s shelter in a vineyard,
like a lean-to in a cucumber field after the harvest,
like a helpless city under siege. 9 If the Lord of Heaven’s Armies
had not spared a few of us, we would have been wiped out like Sodom,
destroyed like Gomorrah.

Isaiah 10:20 [The Message]
And on that Day also, what's left of Israel, the ragtag survivors of Jacob, will no longer be fascinated by abusive, battering Assyria. They'll lean on God, The Holy—yes, truly. The ragtag remnant—what's left of Jacob—will come back to the Strong God. Your people Israel were once like the sand on the seashore, but only a scattered few will return. Destruction is ordered, brimming over with righteousness. For the Master, God-of-the-Angel-Armies, will finish here what He started all over the globe.

Proverbs 3:5-6 [KJV]
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.

Loved this sister...I'm working on the "leaning not" part...it's so much easier to walk by sight...but the reward is so far greater when we walk by faith!! :) Learning to trust God when we can't make sense of it all...that's the faith that saves!
Have a super blessed weekend sister!
In Him,

POWERFUL!! YES YES AMEN!!

This reminds me of my favorite hymn that I grew up singing around mama's piano - and at church as family.. I also sang it to my kids and grandkids as I rocked them to sleep.

"leaning on the everlasting arms"

They loved the lowness of my voice in this song - the rumble against my chest soothed them as these words were sung over them. I often wonder if the Lord will bring these words back to them at some specific point inthere life - a familiar sound that pricks their spirits towrds God. It's not sung in most churches today - so the opportunity may come from my own voice singing it over them - at some specific time - I have sung it to them from time to time. But none remember it as being hidden in their spirits. But I trust the TRUTH was planted and it is growing - I see the evidence of that.

"Leaning on the Everlasting Arms"

What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
leaning on the everlasting arms;
what a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain:
Leaning, leaning,
safe and secure from all alarms;
leaning, leaning,
leaning on the everlasting arms.

O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way,
leaning on the everlasting arms;
O how bright the path grows from day to day,
leaning on the everlasting arms.
(Refrain)

What have I to dread, what have I to fear,
leaning on the everlasting arms?
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near,
leaning on the everlasting arms.
(Refrain)

thanks for sharing the TRUTH, Miss Stephanie. God is pleased with your heart for TRUTH.

Hugs,

Leaning on God as given me a place of rest.

Love the picture. We had a small barn behind the house (I grew up in)
we called "the leaning barn."
