Believing the Promises of God - in His Word

Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed… Without weakening in his faith… Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what He had promised. ~ Romans 4 [selected 18-21]

Journey of a Lifetime and She's Only In Kindegarten

Many adults gasped, "Oh no, I'm so sorry." Such were the comments when telling friends, relatives, or even a grocery store checkers that my daughter and her family were going to Haiti. That was over 18 months ago - just three months after the disastrous earthquake struck the tiny country.

I had not seen my family in person until July of this year, when they were home for a short vacation to the States. After three weeks of visiting here, interestingly, all of their children [my grandchildren] couldn't wait to go "home"!

"Home" is Haiti for them. They now speak the language of the native people. This is Tessa's first day of Kindegarten [twazyčm] . The kids love Haiti, and though many adults would think they are missing so much, the kids are on an adventure of a lifetime with God!

I wondered, as I pondered over this picture, what kind of life do we lead? Do we really consider our pilgrimage, our journey, to be full of adventure and not so common place with God? Our feet may be dressed in different color socks, sometimes we march alike and sometimes we stick out like a sore thumb. But each of us has our place in God's kingdom. May we go to where God leads us falling into the ranks of "Onward Christian Soldiers" wherever HE sets our feet!

I am teaching the book of RUTH at this time. This verse came to mind from the picture:

Ruth 1
16 But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. 17 Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD deal with me, be it ever so severely, if anything but death separates you and me.” 18 When Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her.
19 So the two women went on until they came to Bethlehem.

Your grand daughter will be forever grateful for this experience. We do need to be taken out of our comfort zones for us to realize the value of true riches. Lasting joy comes not when we have it our way, but when what we want is also what God wants!

Thank you for sharing such a deep post.

Thank you too for being a friend to me.

Much love
Lidia

What a SWEET photo of your precious Grand-daughter Stephanie! I appreciate your focus...on the LORD...as it ought to be!! Yes, indeed...we need to ask ourselves those hard questions, don't we? May the LORD help us continually to seek to serve HIM wherever HE places us. May we always be willing to be pilgrims and not set our feet too firmly in this soil. What a blessing it is to see your children follow the LORD wherever HE leads.

Love to you!
Camille

Tessa is a beautiful blonde! I loved this colorful picture. I remember well the day you told me they were going to Haiti. What a treasure box of experiences before them. This was good news - that they feel at home in Haiti.

Glad you go to see them this summer. I know that was a blessing for all. It must be hard to be so far away from them. Any plans to visit them there?

Thanks, dear one for your visit today and for your prayers. I am so uplifted with the knowledge of your prayers for me.

And those X's - for me, they are crosses - Like Jesus is writing across the sky .... "pick up your cross and follow me."

Blessings
wish I could set under your Ruth teaching :)
