Believing the Promises of God - in His Word

Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed… Without weakening in his faith… Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what He had promised. ~ Romans 4 [selected 18-21]

Into Jerusalem

It is the 16th of March - a Holy Day unto the Lord and though many cheered and sang "Hosanna to the King of Kings" that day so long ago when Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey - there were also many who mocked and jeered and sought to kill him. Jesus wept over the city before He entered.

John 19:41-42

41 As He [Jesus] approached Jerusalem and saw the city, He wept over it 42 and said, "If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. [emphasis mine]

Palm Sunday 2008 - what a glory day for my father-in-law to meet His maker - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, face to face as he danced his way into the heavenly city of Jerusalem at dawn this morning! My husband, Bob, [Monte's son] was also there to greet him! That's what I call a heavenly reunion! I can't even imagine what this day was like in the heavenlies!

In honor of March 16th, 2008 - Monte's Glory Day - Psalm 16
Read it as Monte's Prayer

Psalm 16

A miktam of David.

1 Keep me safe, O God,
for in You I take refuge.
2 I said to the LORD, "You are my Lord;

apart from You I have no good thing."
3 As for the saints who are in the land,

they are the glorious ones in whom is all my delight.
4 The sorrows of those will increase

who run after other gods.
I will not pour out their libations of blood
or take up their names on my lips.
5 LORD, You have assigned me my portion and my cup;

You have made my lot secure.
6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;

surely I have a delightful inheritance.
7 I will praise the LORD, who counsels me;

even at night my heart instructs me.
8 I have set the LORD always before me.

Because He is at my right hand,
I will not be shaken.
9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;

my body also will rest secure,
10 because You will not abandon me to the grave,

nor will You let Your Holy One see decay.
11 You have made
known to me the path of life;
You will fill me with joy in Your presence,
with eternal pleasures at Your right hand. [emphasis mine]

Monte's theology finally met his heavenly reality!

All praise, honor and glory to the one true God, King Jesus!

Choosing JOY,

Stephanie

Dr. John Quinn said...

The Scripture declares in II Corinthians 5 that when absent from the body we are at home with the Lord. Monte closed his eyes on earth and opened them in heaven. I look forward to the day when I too will be truly at home, but for today I realize God has work for me here and so I remain.

Paul said in Philippians 1,

"Christ will even now, as always, be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which to choose.

But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sake.

Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy in the faith ..."

Summarizing, I serve here, while always looking up.

In Him,
