Believing the Promises of God - in His Word

Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed… Without weakening in his faith… Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what He had promised. ~ Romans 4 [selected 18-21]

I Stand in AWE and LISTEN

Ecclesiastes 5:1-2
Stand in Awe of God

1 Guard your steps when you go to the house of God.
Go near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools,
who do not know that they do wrong.
2 Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few. [emphasis mine]

I have been studying the Psalms for over a year now - also just finished reading through Proverbs. Now I'm on to Ecclesiastes in progression as I have combined those two books with the reading of the Psalms. I only take one chapter per day in Ecclesiastes right now - but I was stuck on this short - but profound passage from yesterday's reading in Chapter 5.

"LISTEN" has been a theme that God has been whispering, shouting and hammering home to me over the last 10 months especially. The closer I get to the LORD the more clearly I hear His voice - just as His voice was heard by Samuel, Moses, Abraham, Jacob, David, Paul, John and Peter - just to name a few. It was not unusual for them to hear God's voice - because they knew it was Him when He spoke.

Do WE? Do we know His Voice when He speaks to us? More importantly - do we respond with radical obedience - as Samuel did when he said, "Speak LORD, for Your servant is listening?" [1 Samuel 3:10]

Oh, LORD, make Your Presence and Your Voice known to those who love you!

Choosing JOY,

Stephanie

And I would add to that S, Please Lord "Incline my heart to Thy testimony and not to getting gain."
(Psalm 119:36)

stephanie,
i had shared with you the first time the Lord woke me up to read Exodus chapter 16. Later on that day you explained to me the concept of that passage. Weeks later, He told me to read about "justin". i could not find a single thing about a justin so instead i read jeremiah. haha. coincidently, my next door neighbor's sons name is justin who happens to play with my son shane. Any insights?
