SHEPHERD'S WALK at Sweetbriar

As I prepare to leave for Mexico tomorrow with the Team from For the Fame of His Name, I wanted to share what God is also preparing, designing and completing as I type this. When I return from my missions trip (where I have the awesome privilege to speak to Mexican Pastor's and Elder's wives about discipleship in their churches and among their people) I will share more about SHEPHERD'S WALK and all God has given - and continues to give for the vision of it all! The paving has barely hardened and God is already supplying and providing - just as He has promised!

It is a Prayer of Faith Walk - that leads to the purity of The Sanctuary Area - the CIRCLE - the KEY to God's Presence - meeting one-on-one as each sojourner COMES to the TABLE of GOD!

Isaiah 40:21-23

21 Do you not know? Have you not heard?Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood since the earth was founded?

CONFIDENCE

This is October... a month to enjoy the beautiful color of God's creation as the earth prepares to bed down for a long cold winter. Red oak trees, orange-yellow maples, pumpkins, gourds, corn stalks, and scarecrows line the porches along the streets of our communities.

SHEPHERD'S WALK Begins


Today begins the first phase of SHEPHERD'S WALK at Sweetbriar. What is that, you ask? Well - that is a very llllonnnnggg story. But the short version is:
A PRAYER WALK in the woods.
The LORD Himself has been the architect and designer as He has shown me what His plans are. This will be something that will become a Non-Profit Organization as I seek to Incorporate it as that - also under God's direction. There is a looped path with a large 1400-foot Circled Sanctuary in the back part. This morning as the contractor arrived and we went over the last minute details of the Sanctuary specs - the crescent moon shone above us and the man said to me, "Wow - it's right there in the center." I reminded him of Psalm 89 where it talks about the moon being a witness of God's covenant love for us. We waited for the other workman to arrive and I led all of us in prayer at the entrance area before the work started. I reminded them that that place is "holy ground" and that everything done there is to be done to their best ability because they are to answer to God - even before they answer to me. It was a special time to begin - even then - with PRAYER!

The LORD has taken a long and winding path to take me to this place of beginning. HE is making all things new. SHEPHERD'S WALK at Sweetbriar began with a vision from the LORD while reading and studying the 23rd Psalm. Its main basis is PSALM 23 - but there are many other Scriptures that mark its path and purpose. There will be more information to come as work progresses and the Incorporation gets underway.

Psalm 89 (selected)
1 I will sing of the LORD's great love forever;
with my mouth I will make Your faithfulness known through all generations.
2 I will declare that Your love stands firm forever,
that You established Your faithfulness in heaven itself.

The CIRCLE in the photo is God's Glory - as He established it in the very Sanctuary area of SHEPHERD'S WALK the day the Sanctuary was being cleared for the first time. There are 12 main trees that surround the actual Sanctuary circle area.

A Day to Remember

























....and CELEBRATE! This is long so please bear with me. I promise that the Scripture alone will be worth it! Oh, how I love God's Word!

Today marks the 2nd anniversary of my husband, Bob's home going to glory. Some of my family were able to join me at my church today when I shared a brief testimony about Bob and about Who God Is and ALL that God did two years ago in our lives bringing healing of every kind, both physical and spiritual - to Bob - to me - to our marriage - to our children and to the many who God allowed to participate in all that God's agenda held open for us!

JESUS turned Bob's life around in the last 124 days that he breathed on earth and then God took him home - to Glory - to be in the very Presence of His Savior, Jesus Christ! What a day that was and we remember with tears of grief, tears of sadness, tears of victory, and tears of great JOY! Bob's last word spoken was [one of] his grandson's name - JYDEN - which means Jehovah-Jireh = The LORD will PROVIDE!

Today was special in another way. I had the privilege of being commissioned today - being sent off to Mexico. I will be speaking to Pastor's wives about discipleship among women in the church at a Mexican Pastoral Staff Conference in Tamazunchalie, Mexico, in only a few short days. I am going with a missions organization called: For The Fame of His Name.

As I shared today - this is completely out of my "comfort zone"! But God knows that. God spoke to two dear friends [Bible study mates] that told me that God will be my "Security Blanket" - and that I was "going with God alone - as all I need."

We had a special missionary speaker today - Barry Jordan, who is presently in the USA teaching at Nyack College. What a blow away message he had for us. But the bottom line was that "This World - Is all about GOD." HE takes front seat - HE leads - and we follow after we give Him that place in our lives.

I could spend all day writing Scripture after Scripture about God - that have been significant in my life over the past 3 years, especially what I shared as my commissioning verses from:

Isaiah 6: 1-8
Isaiah's Commission
1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. 3 And they were calling to one another:
"Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory."
4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.
5 "Woe to me!" I cried. "I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty."
6 Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, "See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for."
8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?"

And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

This is also a day to remember because 3 years ago this month I heard Beth Moore speak at a Simulcast from Psalm 126. Though I did not understand that entire chapter at the time - God made it clear that I was to memorize every word of it. By Thanksgiving, I knew it and repeated it over and over. God was faithful as He continued to show me more and more about the deep meaning in that Psalm.

I call it my Psalm of JOY and PROMISE!

Psalm 126
A song of ascents.

1 When the LORD brought back the captives to Zion,
we were like men who dreamed [restored to health].
2 Our mouths were filled with laughter,

our tongues with songs of joy.
Then it was said among the nations,
"The LORD has done great things for them."
3 The LORD has done great things for us,

and we are filled with joy.
4 Restore our fortunes, O LORD,

like streams in the Negev.
5 Those who sow in tears

will reap with songs of joy.
6 He who goes out weeping,

carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy,
carrying sheaves with him.

When my fears came flooding in last week about stepping into the unknown God reminded me of this passage - the very one that speaks about my earthly Promised Land! Oh, praise God for His Word. It gives us all we need to live a life of godliness.

Joshua 1
6 "Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them. 7 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

No matter what we encounter in life - even the death of a spouse or the death of a child or parent or sibling - or financial ruin - or illness - or abuse - no matter WHAT - He is there and will see us through those "impossible" circumstances. He tells me over and over, "keep your eyes on ME - and take them off your circumstances." Just like in the flood I had in my house a few weeks ago. It was hard as I went through it - but just when I called out in desperation to the LORD - He sent forth all the help I needed to turn it all around for good - and for His glory! Only God!

Having most of the church lay hands on me today along with some of my family and many Bible study partners was beyond belief - yet the day of Bob's celebration service I spoke this last Scripture from:

1 Corinthians 2:9-10
9 However, as it is written:
"No eye has seen,
no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love Him"—
10 but God has revealed it to us by His Spirit. [all Scripture emphasis added]

God faithfully continues to reveal what my mind and heart cannot conceive! This journey of the abundant, victorious life - I'm in it with JOY for the long haul - no matter how hard - because none of it depends on me. God doesn't need me for anything. HE is the one doing all the work - He just allows us the privilege to participate! Awesome God!

A FEARLESS HEART


Do you live with a fearless heart? Or is your life paralyzed by unending fears - many of which the evil one just holds over your head as a "taunt" - all of which may never even become a reality? Does the "what if" have a greater hold over you than the reality of trusting God?

The real question is: "Who do you believe - the enemy - or God?" The evil one is full of lies that cheat us out of the fearless heart that God wants for us. GOD wants us to TRUST His heart so deeply that we live in the reality of what He says and does - all for our good.

Does God know we are afraid many times? Of course He does. He responds to that over and over in Scripture - but always with the command to let go of those fears and trust His heart instead. He reassures us that He will be with us in all that we are and all that we do. His purposes are to bring GOOD to all people - to restore us to Himself.

Joshua 1: 6-9

TO KNOW HIM - EVEN in SUFFERING


Acts 1 (selected)
2 Until the day He was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles He had chosen. 3 After His suffering, He showed Himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that He was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.

7 He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by His own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

Future Glory
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

To Know Christ - is to know His sufferings. There is joy and great glory in and through the sufferings that we must endure.

How Deep His LOVE

7 I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God's grace given me through the working of His power. 8 Although I am less than the least of all God's people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9 and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things. 10 His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, 11according to His eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. 12 In Him and through faith in Him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. 13 I ask you, therefore, not to be discouraged because of my sufferings for you, which are your glory.
A Prayer for the Ephesians
14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom His whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. Can you grasp the fullness of His love? I can't - but I'm trying. He lavishes us with His grace and sometimes it's more than we can take! Praise His Name - JESUS!

Exodus 14 (KJV)
13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will show to you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.
14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
15 And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:

Moses was endeavoring to rally all the people in a "drama moment" of acknowleding all that the LORD was doing and would do - but the LORD said, "Don't just stand there - MOVE!" [my personal take].

Many times we are called to "be still" - to know God and His plans. Then other times - when God has already revealed the plan, He tells us to "get moving - don't quit - don't give up - don't delay" because sometimes there is no more time to waste and there could be dangers we are not ever aware of." Had the Israelites just stood there too long - gazing - they could have been killed.

GOD MAKES ALL THINGS BEAUTIFUL and PERFECT IN HIS HANDS!

An UNKNOWN PATH


An Unknown Path

I have not been this way before
Yet God assures me, “there’s so much more.”

The paths before me are narrow; unknown.
Yet, it’s only by faith that they are shown.

Like a Shepherd He leads me to drink and to graze,
On His Word, by His Spirit, never ceasing to amaze.

The path is ominous, winding, and steep.
My focus on the Shepherd, I alone must keep.

He’s been here before; checked for danger and snare;
Leading and guiding, even through its despair.

He lights this path, leading step-by-step,
For only today is His manna given, and kept.

Some days seem dark, as clouds gather in gloom,
Yet His faithfulness forever, still comes into full bloom.

On an unknown path, He again bids me ‘Come’!
“Trust My heart; take My Hand, as I lead you home.

5 This is what God the LORD says—
He who created the heavens and stretched them out,
who spread out the earth and all that comes out of it,

In Spite of My Sin


Deuteronomy 30:8-16
8 You will again obey the LORD and follow all His commands I am giving you today. 9 Then the LORD your God will make you most prosperous in all the work of your hands and in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your land. The LORD will again delight in you and make you prosperous, just as He delighted in your fathers, 10 if you obey the LORD your God and keep His commands and decrees that are written in this Book of the Law and turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

11 Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. 12 It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, "Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?" 13 Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, "Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?"

Objects of His Mercy


Romans 9 (selected)
God's Sovereign Choice

1 I speak the truth in Christ—I am not lying, my conscience confirms it in the Holy Spirit— 2 I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. 3 For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, those of my own race, 4 the people of Israel. Theirs is the adoption as sons; theirs the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the law, the temple worship and the promises. 5 Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of Christ, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen.

14 What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all!
15 For He says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion."
16 It does not, therefore, depend on man's desire or effort, but on God's mercy.

21 Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for
noble purposes and some for common use?
22 What if God, choosing to show His wrath and make His power known, bore with great patience the objects of His wrath—prepared for destruction? 23 What if He did this to make the riches of His glory known to the objects of His mercy, whom He prepared in advance for glory— 24 even us, whom He also called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles? [all emphasis mine]

He did - make the riches of His glory known to the objects of His mercy who He prepared in advance for glory - to all people! Only GOD!

Thoughts to ponder:
How thankful are we for God's MERCY upon our lives today? Do we bring Him glory as a result?
